Phil Hellmuth Loses Third Heads-Up Match at WSOP 2011

Phil Hellmuth lost his third heads-up match at the WSOP 2011, finishing second to Brian Rast in the $50,000 Championship event. Despite the loss, Hellmuth regained the top spot in the WSOP 2011 Player of the Year rankings due to the points earned from his second-place finish.

Andy Beal lost around $50 million in a series of private poker games over the past few months. The games involved high-stakes poker with buy-ins as high as $1 million, and participants included notable figures like Tobi Maguire and Alex Gores.

Doyle Brunson, despite health complaints, decided to play in the WSOP 2011 Main Event after initially considering skipping it. Brunson's friend, Dewey Tomko, offered to cover his buy-in if he decided not to play, but Brunson ultimately chose to participate. He was eliminated on the first day, losing his last chips in an all-in situation.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
