Peter Eastgate Returns to Poker: 'I Missed the Competition'
Professional poker player Peter Eastgate has announced his return to the game after taking a break. Eastgate, who won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 2008, took a hiatus from poker to reassess his life and priorities.
In a letter released by PokerStars, Eastgate explained that the constant attention and travel that came with his poker career had caused him to lose sight of who he was. He decided to take a break to reconnect with his family and friends and to figure out what he wanted to do next.
Eastgate's return to poker will begin with the European Poker Tour (EPT) Copenhagen tournament. He will also be participating in the NBC Heads-Up Championship and various online tournaments on PokerStars. Eastgate sold his WSOP championship bracelet to raise funds for UNICEF, which generated £100,000 for the charity.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
