Penn State Launches Gambling Awareness Campaign Amid Casino Opening

Penn State has launched the “Know the Odds” campaign to help those dealing with problem gambling and addiction. The campaign is run by the university’s Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) and is geared toward early intervention, raising awareness, and reducing the stigma of seeking help.

The campaign’s launch comes after the Happy Valley Casino officially opened in State College last week. The CRC hosted an online seminar last week as part of the “Know the Odds” launch, outlining concerns about problem gambling.

The Happy Valley Casino offers players 600 slot machines, 30 live table games, two restaurants, and a bar.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
