Online Poker Players Plan Protest Against UIGEA Law
The UIGEA law is coming into effect on June 1st, 2010. Online poker players are planning a protest called “Promise to Play June 1st” to show that the new law will fail. The protest was initiated on the 2+2 forum.
The new law does not ban online poker but significantly limits the ways to deposit and withdraw money. The law is poorly written and contains many ambiguities that banks will interpret in the most restrictive way.
Poker players are discussing the protest on forums, expressing their concerns about the unpredictable consequences of the new law. The protest aims to make the day the law comes into effect a record day for online poker players, rather than accepting that there will be fewer opponents.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
