The Dark Days of Online Poker in Spain: A Look Back at 2014-2015
The online poker scene in Spain faced significant challenges during 2014 and 2015. The decline began with the loss of popular programs like Esto es poker on LBpoker.
Major poker rooms like Poker770 closed, and other rooms like Cirsa (Sportium) had to reinvent themselves and start from scratch. Partypoker faced an almost unviable traffic situation. The decline affected many, including EducaPoker.
One of the most significant blows was when an unnamed poker room unilaterally closed its affiliate contract on a holiday, leaving many in the community shocked and uncertain about the future.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
