The numbers were a bust when the man first played - but instead of discarding the ticket, he kept it with him. On April 28, the man decided to play the lottery again with some friends from work, and this is when he won $50,000.

One man’s waste is another man’s fortune. The winner, who admitted that they seldom play the lottery themselves, took that as a sign that they should at least give it a go - and they were right. The person, a resident of Euclid, managed to secure the payout on Pick 5, which was the game the discarded ticket had played as well. The Ohio Lottery confirmed that the lucky winner had placed a $1 ticket on Pick 5, matching all five numbers, to win the $50,000 payout.
