Nikita Bodiakovskiy's Strategic Poker Move: Checking with a Set
Poker player Nikita Bodiakovskiy, known online as fish2013, played a hand against Mariano in Hustler Casino Live. Mariano opened with a $500 raise from the button, and Nikita called from the small blind with a squeeze of $3,000.
Nikita flopped a set and decided to check, considering the range of hands Mariano could have. On the turn, an ace came out, and Nikita checked again, following the solver's advice for a more aggressive play. On the river, a two appeared, and Nikita checked for the third time, despite having a strong hand.
Mariano made a small bet, assuming Nikita had a weak hand.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
