Nick Walsh: The Voice of Modern Poker — Between Felt and Booth

Nick Walsh, a prominent figure in the poker world, serves as a PokerStars ambassador, commentator, and Spin & Go specialist. Currently, he is commenting on the PokerStars European Poker Tour Prague, where he shares his unique perspective on the game.

Walsh has been instrumental in shaping the live Spin & Go format from a player's perspective. He emphasizes the importance of good commentary in making poker accessible, especially to new players. "I think that commentary for poker is absolutely critical for engagement. Commentators are absolutely necessary to make poker accessible—especially to players that are new or haven’t discovered the game—because they take something that is very quiet and very subtle and they make it accessible."

Reflecting on his commentating career, Walsh recalls three memorable moments: his first live commentary in Prague, Giuliano Bendinelli's remarkable comeback win at EPT Barcelona 2022, and Barney Boatman's emotional victory at EPT Paris 2024. These moments highlight the excitement and drama that commentary brings to the game, keeping viewers engaged even during quiet stretches.
