Naoya Kihara Wins NL2-7 Championship and Stud Tournament at WSOP
Naoya Kihara, a 44-year-old specialist in mixed games from Japan, won the NL2-7 championship. After a poor bluff on the first day, Kihara was left with only 1,000 chips from the starting stack of 60,000, but managed to turn things around and win the bracelet.
Kihara's victory in the Stud championship with a $10,000 buy-in adds to his impressive record. This is his third bracelet, with the first one won in 2012 in PLO for $5,000. That victory was historic as it was the first bracelet won by a Japanese player.
Daniel Negreanu and Alex Foxen both finished in the prize money. Negreanu placed 20th, while Foxen finished 11th. Their interaction during the tournament was notable, with Foxen making a surprising call with a pair of sevens and eventually winning the hand. Negreanu, impressed by Foxen's play, commented, 'Foksi, you're a gambling addict.'

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
