Nacho Barbero Wins $600k at Triton Poker After Crypto Losses
Nacho Barbero made history as the first South American to win a Triton Poker event, securing a $600,000 victory in the $15k NLHE event #2 of the SHR Series Vietnam stop. This triumph came after Barbero recently lost a fortune in cryptocurrency scandals.
The event drew a record-breaking 172 entries, surpassing the previous record set by event 1, won by Webster Lim the day before. Only 37 players advanced to day two, with 23 making it to the paid spots. Notable players who did not make it to the final table included Stephen Chidwick and Steve O’Dwyer.
Barbero's journey to the top was impressive. He defeated Linus Loeliger, Kean Wei Tan, Seth Davies, and Aleks Ponakovs en route to the final. In the heads-up showdown, Jans Arends finished second with $406,000 after losing to Barbero. Brian Kim finished third with $271,000 after losing to Barbero with A♥ 10♣ against Barbero’s A♣ 9♥.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
