Michigan Cracks Down on Offshore Poker Rooms with New Enforcement Actions
The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) issued cease-and-desist orders to 45 illegal offshore operators on April 7, 2024. Among the named operators, four were online poker rooms: Americas Cardroom (ACR Poker), True Poker, Sportsbetting, and BetOnline. ACR Poker and True Poker are part of the Winning Poker Network (WPN), while Sportsbetting and BetOnline operate on the Chico Poker Network.
ACR Poker exited the Michigan market in February 2024. The MGCB has increased its enforcement efforts against illegal internet gaming operators over the past two years. This move is part of a broader crackdown on illegal gaming operators in the state.
Michigan's regulated online gaming market includes licensed operators like PokerStars on FanDuel, WSOP Online, BetMGM Poker, and BetRivers Poker. These platforms are linked to multi-state shared liquidity pools, connecting Michigan players with those in other states.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
