MGM Grand Casino Sued After Tourist Stabbed on Premises
Leslie Alexander, a tourist from Canal Winchester, Ohio, is suing the MGM Grand Casino after she was stabbed by Nathaniel Mahoney while walking through the slot machine area next to the Las Vegas Strip entrance. The incident occurred on the morning of September 6, 2021, just a day after Mahoney had stabbed another man in the MGM Grand Casino lobby area.
Mahoney, 47, launched an unprovoked attack on Alexander as she walked past him. The attack seemed to last for several minutes, leaving Alexander feeling traumatized. Security personnel from the hotel did not respond to the scene until after the attack had taken place.
After the attack on Alexander, police quickly apprehended Mahoney and found an 11cm butterfly knife in his possession. Mahoney pleaded guilty to one count of assault with a deadly weapon in February 2023, as part of a plea deal. Prosecutors recommended a prison sentence of 19-48 months, which was agreed upon by Judge Michelle Leavitt.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
