Maria Konnikova Helps Lloyds Bank Fight Fraud with Psychological Insights
Maria Konnikova, known for her work with PokerStars, has taken on a new challenge. She is now consulting for Lloyds Bank to help protect their clients from fraud. Lloyds Bank's Director of Security, Paul Davies, invited Konnikova after reading her book The Confidence Game and being impressed by her insights.
Konnikova's work focuses on the psychological aspects of fraud, particularly how stress and decision-making affect people's ability to recognize and avoid scams. She advises bank employees to avoid scripts and take an individual approach to clients in suspicious situations.
In addition to her consulting work, Konnikova has a new book coming out titled The Biggest Bluff. This book will explore how to apply poker skills to everyday life. Meanwhile, Amanda Botfield, author of A Girl's Guide to Poker, has published a new guide for beginners. Her book includes a guide to Vegas casinos and poker etiquette.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
