Maks 'Decay' Lykov Wins EPT Kyiv: First Russian Champion Crowned
Maks 'Decay' Lykov made history at the EPT Kyiv tournament by becoming the first Russian to win the prestigious event. In a dramatic final, Lykov defeated Alexander Dovzhenko, securing the top prize of €330,000.
Lykov started the final day with a strong chip stack of 2,597,000. Early in the tournament, he eliminated Torsten Tent, showing his dominance. Later, Lykov defeated Adrian Snaap in a crucial coin flip, which significantly improved his position.
In the key coin flip that determined the third-place finisher, Lykov faced off against Vitaly 'Murzilka' Tolokonnikov. Lykov's 7-7 held up against Tolokonnikov's A-J, thanks to an ace on the turn, eliminating Tolokonnikov and setting up the final showdown between Lykov and Dovzhenko. In the final hand, Dovzhenko had a higher pair on the flop, but Lykov's trip on the turn secured his victory and the championship.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
