Karl Chappe-Gatien Wins Triton Poker $40k Short Deck Title
Karl Chappe-Gatien won the Triton Poker $40k Short Deck title and $565,000 just days after learning the game. The tournament had a prizepool of $1.8 million with 24 players paying 45 entries at $40k apiece. Chappe-Gatien learned Short Deck poker just days before the tournament from his pro partner Danny Tang.
Chappe-Gatien's victory was marked by his deep run in last week’s $200k buy-in Coin Rivet Invitational, where he finished in 3rd place, earning $2.6 million. His journey to the top was filled with exciting moments, including a significant hand against Michael Zhang, where he eliminated Zhang in 4th place. Chappe-Gatien's final hand against Kiat Lee secured his victory, with both players having straights but Chappe-Gatien's being better.
The final results of the tournament were as follows: Karl Chappe-Gatien took the top prize of $565,000, followed by Kiat Lee with $401,000, Webster Lim with $264,000, Michael Zhang with $200,000, Jason Koon with $155,000, Elton Tsang with $120,000, and Winfred Yu with $95,000.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
