Jonathan Tamayo on His Poker Victory: 'I Didn't Even Understand How Solvers Work'

Jonathan Tamayo, a prominent poker player, recently won a major poker tournament. In an interview, Tamayo discussed his victory, future plans, and his unique perspective on the poker world.

Tamayo is primarily a cash game player and does not seek fame. He revealed that he does not plan to travel to exotic countries for poker tournaments due to his fear of flying and other travel-related anxieties. Tamayo first met Joe McKeeen at an American poker series 14 years ago, and the two have been friends since 2013, living together during the World Series of Poker each summer.

Tamayo values McKeeen's generosity and open nature among friends. He also remembers his 21st place finish in the 2009 main tournament, where he struggled with strategy and decision-making. Tamayo supported Joe McKeeen during his 2015 main tournament win, providing moral support and technical assistance. McKeeen helped Tamayo during his final match by reminding him to take his time with decisions.
