Jonathan 'Iftarii' Jaffe's Epic Poker Showdown: The JeevesGets Saga
In September 2009, Jonathan 'Iftarii' Jaffe found himself in a high-stakes showdown against one of the most notorious online poker players, JeevesGets, in the first round of the HU WCOOP for $25,000. Iftarii had 21,579 chips (134.9 bb) and JeevesGets had 18,421 chips (115.1 bb) at the start of the hand.
JeevesGets raised to 320, and Iftarii reraised to 1,120. The tension was palpable as Iftarii's cursor hovered over the call button, with his friend T-J eyeing him, urging him to slow roll. Iftarii called JeevesGets' all-in raise of 17,301 on the flop, leading to a dramatic turn and river.
Following the hand, Iftarii received a series of threatening messages from anon_44, who claimed to be on his way to Massachusetts to kill him. The toxic environment of high-stakes poker was evident, but Iftarii's focus remained on his game. He won the first round and the subsequent four matches, securing a first prize of $315,000. Iftarii's total earnings for the year included an additional $300,000 from HU SNG, making it a year of significant financial success.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
