Jeff Lisandro Wins Third WSOP Bracelet in 2009, Sets New Record
Jeff Lisandro, an Australian of Italian descent, made history at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2009 by becoming the first player to win tournaments in all varieties of stud in a single year. This achievement surpassed the previous record held by players like Puggy Pearson, Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest, and Phil Ivey, who had each won three bracelets in a single year.
Lisandro's victories included a cheap stud tournament with 359 participants, the World Championship of Stud Hi-Lo with 164 participants, and the only Razz tournament in the series with 315 participants. His dominance in these tournaments solidified his status as the 'King of Stud.' In the final Razz tournament, Lisandro's chip lead and superior skill level made his victory against poker writer Michael Craig inevitable.
With these wins, Lisandro secured a significant lead in the race for the WSOP Player of the Year title, accumulating 355 points. His closest competitor, Välbeek, had 275 points. Lisandro is also considered a favorite for the upcoming $50,000 HORSE championship. His connection to Russia is notable, as he lived in Moscow in the early 2000s and was reportedly involved in the city's first poker clubs.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
