37-Year-Old IT Pro Shares Insights on Poker Career and EPT Victory

A 37-year-old IT professional who transitioned to playing poker tournaments for fun after cashing out in 2021, recently sat down for an interview to discuss his poker career and his victory at the EPT Monte Carlo. The player, who prefers to play one tournament a week, shared his experiences and insights into the world of high-stakes poker.

The player qualified for the winning EPT through a satellite, but the second bullet was already for cash. This method of entry was technically correct, but the player noted that PokerStars often promotes stories about satellite entries, which can be misleading. The player also discussed a controversial hand where he called with AK, receiving mixed reactions from the community. Some players supported his decision, while others criticized it, with one even suggesting he should be banned from the EPT for a year.

The player mentioned that the EPT organization was excellent, but the lack of free drinks was surprising. He prefers playing at Triton due to fewer people and free amenities. The player also discussed the differences between EPT and Triton in terms of player fields and comfort, noting that the player fields at EPT are generally better but that Triton offers a more comfortable experience. The player mentioned that he used to play a variety of games and rooms, including GG and WPN, and that he briefly tried short deck and Omaha but found more action in hold'em. The player expressed that returning to high-stakes cash games is not an option due to the lack of volume and personal reasons.
