Illegal Gambling Den Busted in Texas, Industry Moves and Changes Announced
An illegal gambling operation in Bexar County, Texas, was recently shut down by law enforcement, resulting in the seizure of hundreds of gambling devices (500-600). The operation relied on payouts through sports and Pokémon cards, which carry significant real-world value, to circumvent state gambling laws.
Sheriff Javier Salazar, who oversaw the bust, noted that the operation was attempting to skirt the law and that those involved were likely to face jail time.
In other news, Fanatics has decided to shut down prediction markets in Utah due to the state's active push against the vertical, including targeting individual companies with criminal charges. Utah has insisted that prediction markets, and sports event contracts in particular, operate in violation of state gambling laws.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
