Houston Poker Club Raided, Three Arrested

The Lucky J Social Club in Houston was raided by police on Wednesday night over allegations of illegal gambling. At least three people were arrested and more than $350,000 in cash and gaming equipment were seized during the raid. The property was previously owned by 10-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Johnny Chan. Under Chan’s ownership, the club was called 88 Social. The club was renamed Lucky J under the current ownership group.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
