High-Stakes Poker: June 2013 Recap and Notable Players
Many high rollers went to the World Series of Poker, and there was a lull in high-stakes games in the first half of June. However, this period of calm was short-lived, thanks to players from the former Soviet Union and Asia who were not interested in the World Series.
MalACEsia, a player from Macau, became a notable figure in high-stakes games on PokerStars. Five players from the former USSR regularly participated in these games: Trueteller, CaII_911, proudlikeagoat, HelicopterBen82, and Rhje. On PokerStars, the regular high-stakes players included fish2013, forhayley, muha84, Katya_18, and Trueteller.
The first significant NL session on $400/800 with an ante of $150 occurred on June 16. forhayley, a high-stakes player, discussed his experiences and opinions on various poker players in an interview. He won $440,021 in the first day of a big NLHE game. The next day, Trueteller won $384.2k, with $318k coming from a PLO $500/1k game against RagingHeart.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
