Germany Officially Regulates Online Poker: New Rules and Operator Reactions
Germany has officially begun regulating online poker, marking a significant shift in the country's gambling landscape. Online poker in Germany is now officially regulated by state structures, with new rules and requirements for operators.
Among the key changes, the term 'tolerance' has been introduced in German gambling legislation, allowing partial legalization of online gambling in all 16 federal states under certain conditions. Poker rooms must adhere to several new regulations, including limiting the number of tables to 4, having a panic button for 24-hour block, limiting table selection, setting a deposit limit of 1,000€ per month, and reminding players of the number of hours played. Additionally, deposits and cashouts can only be made through a real bank account, and German players can only play in one poker room at a time.
Several major poker rooms have already adapted to the new regulations. 888poker, PartyPoker, GG Poker, and GGпокерок have launched in Germany under the new rules, with accounts of German players being transferred to new poker clients along with their funds and bonuses. Unibet Poker has stated its readiness to follow the new rules, while RIO Poker has temporarily suspended its operations in Germany and offered a quick cashout to its German players. German players will need to undergo mandatory identity verification to play in most of these poker rooms.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
