Garrett Adelstein's New Book Beneath the Cards: A Deep Dive into His Poker Career
Garrett Adelstein's new book Beneath the Cards hit the shelves on September 1, 2026. In the lead-up to its release, Adelstein spent over 7 hours in various podcasts, including Mechanics of Poker and Table 1 Podcast, promoting his book.
Adelstein shared some incredible stories during his promotional tour. He recounted a time when he was robbed for $650,000 and a bet with Alan Keating. He also mentioned that electronic music, particularly festivals like EDC, helps him with mental health. For his poker strategy and theoretical preparation, Adelstein used PioSolver.
One of the most anticipated parts of the book is the chapter about the J4 scandal. Adelstein promises to delve into his own mistakes and include an appendix with unpublished evidence. He also described his experience of returning to work after his wedding and the subsequent downswing in his poker career. In December 2021, despite feeling burnt out, Adelstein participated in the High Stakes Poker show. During the show, he made a significant bluff against Daniel Negreanu.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
