Filip Sternheimer Wins PLO8 Championship at WSOP
Filip Sternheimer, a 46-year-old businessman and poker enthusiast, won the PLO8 championship at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). He earned $763,087 for his victory, marking a significant achievement in his nearly 25-year poker career. Sternheimer has been playing poker for nearly 25 years and has been a part of the WSOP circuit for 13 years as a wealthy amateur. He even received invitations to play in the Triton tournaments as a businessman.
Two years ago, Sternheimer left his successful career in finance to focus solely on poker. He mentioned that he always found time for poker and decided to take it more seriously after leaving his job. He also noted that the more time he spends studying the game, the more he realizes how much he still doesn't know.
Caleb Bruno Fert finished in second place, earning $508,705. Shaun Deeb finished in third place, earning $348,304. Daniel Negreanu offered a bet that Allen Kessler would make it into the money. Joao Vieira won the high roller tournament with a $100,000 buy-in, earning $2,649,158. Vieira has four WSOP bracelets, all in NLH tournaments. Rob Koun criticized Ike Haxton for wearing a mask during the tournament. Andrey Zhigalov won the HORSE tournament with a $1,500 buy-in, earning $197,923. Ian Jones won the limit hold'em championship with a $10,000 buy-in, earning $282,455.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
