Faraz Jaka's Tips for Aggressive Tournament Poker
Poker player Faraz Jaka offered a free newsletter subscription at the beginning of the year, providing valuable content alongside promoting his courses.
As tournaments progress, many players become too passive and risk-averse, leading to a shrinking stack. Faraz Jaka shares five tips to help players maintain aggression:
1. Steal Blinds More Often
Faraz Jaka suggests stealing blinds more often from suitable opponents. Identify players who fold frequently pre-flop or play passively, and steal their blinds more aggressively.
2. 3-Bet with Medium-Strength Hands
Faraz Jaka recommends 3-betting with medium-strength hands against aggressive opponents. Hands like KQo, A9s, or QTs are better played through a 3-bet rather than calling a raise.
3. Check-Raise from the Big Blind
Faraz Jaka advises checking and raising more often from the big blind, especially with hands that may need to fold on later streets. This strategy helps to burn the opponent's equity.
4. Make Larger Bets on the Flop
Faraz Jaka suggests making larger bets on the flop in certain situations, such as when the board is connected and the opponent on the big blind has many backdoor draws.
5. Bluff with Small Bets Occasionally
Faraz Jaka recommends bluffing with small bets occasionally. A small bluff does not need to succeed often to be profitable. It's important to avoid giving too much weight to short-term results.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
