Evagoras Evagorou: The Optician Making History at WSOP 2026

Evagoras Evagorou, an optician from Cyprus, is making history as the first player from his country to reach the 2026 WSOP main event final table. At 48 years old, Evagoras Evagorou carries the shortest stack into this WSOP main event final table with 22,500,000 (15 big blinds).

Evagoras Evagorou survived numerous close calls on day 8 to clinch a $1 million payday as one of the last nine. Evagoras Evagorou has cashed in all four of the WSOP events he played at the 2026 WSOP, which happen to be the first four bracelet events Evagorou ever played in the United States. In his last cash before entering the 2026 WSOP main event, Evagorou navigated a field of 5,177 in a $600 buy-in no-limit hold’em event, narrowly missing out on the final table with a 15th-place finish.

Prior to the summer of 2026, Evagorou had just a handful of live tournament results to his name. Evagoras Evagorou’s sixth-place finish in the $3,300 Merit Summer Metro Series main event was more than twice as big as any previous result on his record. Evagoras Evagorou’s hometown is Nicosia, Cyprus. Evagoras Evagorou has results in Greece and Malta, though he’s yet to record any notable wins to this point.
