EPT Sochi 2021: High Stakes and Notable Performances
The European Poker Tour (EPT) Sochi event featured a main tournament with a buy-in of 2,500 USD, attracting 852 entries, the highest since 2018 when Arseniy Karmatskiy won. The winner will be determined on Sunday and will receive a prize of 351,900 USD, with a total of 127 players making it to the prize pool.
Andrey Popugaev, known as 'Lucky_Jew_17', emerged as the chip leader after the initial days, turning his starting 30,000 chips into an impressive 285,000. Popugaev's performance was particularly notable given his past successes, including winning two Sunday Million tournaments in 2019.
Andrey Kotelnikov also had a remarkable run, advancing to the second day after two attempts. His second attempt was particularly successful, building a stack of over 300,000 chips by the fourth level of the day.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
