Doug Polk's Wild Ride: High Stakes Poker 2025
Doug Polk recently participated in High Stakes Poker, a famous television cash game. He played with blinds of $200/$400 and an ante of $400 on the big blind.
In one hand, Polk raised $4,000 from the button, Gavri raised to $20,000 with QQ, and Alan Keating called with 4-high. Polk bet $35,000 on the flop, Keating called, and the turn was the 5 of clubs. Polk bet $70,000 on the turn, Keating called, and the river was the 10 of hearts. Polk went all-in on the river and lost the hand.
On the second day, blinds were increased, and several million-dollar pots were played. Polk dressed up as Sammy Farha from the early seasons of High Stakes Poker. A hand started with a series of straddles, the last of which was $6,400. Sammy Farha raised to $30,000 with QQ, Suvarna and Keating called. The flop was Q55 rainbow, Sammy Farha had trips, and Keating had 4-high with backdoor straight draws. The turn was the 9 of clubs, and Sammy Farha checked.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
