David Baazov Steps Down as Amaya Inc CEO
David Baazov has resigned as the CEO of Amaya Inc, the company behind PokerStars. Rafi Ashkenazi has been appointed as the new CEO. Baazov was accused of insider trading, which likely contributed to his resignation.
In a press release, Baazov expressed pride in his contributions to Amaya's success and stated that he will continue to support the company's strategy and participate in its leadership. Amaya thanked Baazov for his contributions since the company's founding and during its period of rapid growth.
Despite stepping down as CEO, Baazov remains one of Amaya Inc's largest shareholders. He plans to continue his efforts to make the company private. Amaya's revenue from sports betting and online casino has grown to 21% of total revenue, up from 12% the previous year.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
