Daniel Negreanu's Secret Weapon: The Magic of Limping in Poker
Daniel Negreanu, a renowned poker professional, recently won the Super High Roller Bowl tournament. His strategy, which included a lot of limping and varying bet sizes, proved to be highly effective. Negreanu mentioned that he has been playing with limps for 30 years, giving him a significant advantage over his opponents.
During the tournament, Negreanu was in the lead with 5 million chips while his opponents, Nick Petrangelo and Andrew Lichtenberger, had 1 million each. This situation was unfavorable for his opponents according to the Independent Chip Model (ICM), but Negreanu continued to play his unique strategy, often limping and folding to their pushes.
Negreanu's strategy was not limited to the Super High Roller Bowl. He also shared an experience from his trip to Korea, where he was not allowed into a bar due to his age. The bar had a policy of only allowing those born after 1985, which excluded Negreanu and his companions. Despite this, Negreanu enjoyed his time in Korea, appreciating the cultural differences and unique experiences.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
