Daniel Negreanu Talks PokerStars Changes and His New Podcast
Daniel Negreanu, widely recognized as KidPoker, is a prominent figure in the poker world. He is known for his ability to read opponents but sometimes struggles with making the right fold. Negreanu is also active on Twitter, where he is known for his political views among poker players.
Negreanu recently missed the first day of a 50k tournament due to illness but managed to play the second day. He mentioned that he was not involved in any wild activities during his stay in Barcelona, preferring to rest and prepare for the tournament.
During a recent podcast, Negreanu discussed the changes at PokerStars and the departure of David Baazov as CEO. He believes that the changes are aimed at balancing the poker ecosystem, making it harder for professional players to win but easier for recreational players to enjoy the game. Negreanu also mentioned that the VIP program, which was discontinued, contributed to an imbalance in the poker economy.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
