Daniel Negreanu: 2023 Could Be Worst Year of Poker Career

Daniel Negreanu has told his fans that unless he pulls off a major result in December, then 2023 could well be the worst year of his poker career.

Negreanu mentioned that age might be affecting his mental acuity. He attributed his poor performance to bad luck and playing too many events. He cannot grind like he used to be able to.

Negreanu has decided to take the entire month of November off to prepare for the WSOP Paradise in December. In 2022, Negreanu reported a $1.1 million loss at the WSOP. In 2023, he has lost another $742,807 at the WSOP.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
