Daniel Negreanu's 2012 Review and 2013 Goals: A Deep Dive
Daniel Negreanu, one of the most renowned poker players in the world, has published his annual report on Full Contact Poker, detailing his achievements in 2012 and setting ambitious goals for 2013.
In 2012, Negreanu won $1.7 million in live tournaments and a few hundred thousand on PokerStars. He finished 6th in the overall ranking, 5th in the open tournaments ranking, and 3rd in the ranking without high roller tournaments. Negreanu also finished second in the WPT prize winners ranking, trailing Carlos Mortensen by about a million dollars. He came close to winning a high roller tournament in Monte Carlo, losing the heads-up to Igor Kurganov.
Looking ahead to 2013, Negreanu has set several goals. He plans to earn $1.5 million in tournament prizes, top the WPT prize winners list, and win a WSOP bracelet in one of the three locations: Las Vegas, Paris, or Australia. Additionally, Negreanu intends to win a major tournament outside of WSOP, improve his WSOP cash list ranking, enter the top 35 in the WSOP money list, be in the top 10 of the GPI annual ranking, avoid parties before major tournaments, enter the top 10 of the CardPlayer or Bluff annual rankings, and write at least 12 'gripe' posts.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
