Dan Smith Wins Triton Monte Carlo Invitational for $3.87 Million

Dan Smith has won his first Triton title after taking down the Monte Carlo Invitational at the iconic casino in Monaco. The tournament had a unique format where high net worth individuals invited a professional to team up with them. They play the first eight levels by themselves and then converge their stacks and play together for the remainder of the event.

Dan Smith's partner, Theis Vad Hennebjerre, was out of the running in the early levels. The $3,870,000 prize takes Smith live career earnings to $49,351,218. He has now racked up more than $8 million in the last six months and is less than $250k behind Daniel Negreanu who sits in fifth place on the all-time winners list.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
