New Gambling Zone to Open in Crimea: What You Need to Know
Dmitry Medvedev recently signed an order to establish a new gambling zone in Crimea, marking the fifth such zone in Russia. The new zone, named 'Zolotoy Bereg,' is planned to open by 2022 near the settlement of Katsiveli, approximately 20 kilometers from Yalta. The area allocated for the casino and other facilities spans 147,000 square meters.
The location is scenic, with a beach nearby, mountains, plenty of greenery, and clean air. The project is expected to bring new jobs, improved roads, and enhanced infrastructure to the region. Additionally, the casino is anticipated to attract more tourists. However, local residents have expressed negative reactions, citing concerns about the impact on tourism, potential crime, and the moral influence on youth.
Ivan Imgrunt, the acting head of the Yalta administration, understands the concerns but believes that public opinion will change over time. He is confident that the new gambling zone will eventually reach the level of the casinos in Sochi. Deputy of the State Duma from Crimea, Andrei Kozenko, added that the new gambling zone will not only attract foreign tourists but also help overcome sanctions against the peninsula. Expert in gambling business Dmitry Slobodkin is not as optimistic, believing that the new casino will be successful but will not significantly impact Crimea's income.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
