cr999 Secures Fifth Place and €24,000 at Estrellas Poker Tour Madrid 2012
Manuel Martínez, known by his online handle cr999, secured an impressive fifth-place finish at the Estrellas Poker Tour Madrid 2012, earning more than 24,000 euros. This achievement marked cr999 as the second Spanish player to reach two consecutive Estrellas Poker Tour final tables, following Eduardo Rivas corbein.
cr999's journey was not without its challenges. After four days of aggressive play, he entered the final table as a short stack. Despite being significantly behind other players, he managed to overcome the odds and eliminate notable opponents such as Sergio Pardo and Varico. A crucial hand against turko-man, where cr999's KQ held against AQ, kept him in the game. However, his luck eventually ran out in a hand against Luis Rufas, where his A2 lost to AJ.
In addition to cr999's success, José Miguel Espinar Campa, a professor at EducaPoker, also made a notable appearance. Campa finished 23rd in his return to live tournament play, taking home 2,780 euros. Another highlight was the duel between cr999 and Juan Miguel Tomé Reggie, who ultimately won the tournament.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
