Cole South Leaves CardRunners to Focus on Poker and Studies

Cole South, known as cts, has announced his departure from CardRunners, the online poker training site he co-owned. The official reason given for his departure was a lack of free time due to his commitments as a university student, professional poker player, and co-owner of CardRunners.

In a blog post on April 28, 2010, South stated, "I am tired, I am leaving. My successor in the CR professional team will be Isildur1." He expressed his gratitude for the experience and the people he worked with, but emphasized that the decision was necessary to focus more on his poker career and university studies.

South's departure from CardRunners has sparked speculation, particularly regarding his significant financial loss in March 2010. However, South has clarified that his decision is primarily due to the demands of his multiple roles and the need to prioritize his time and energy.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
