Chris Brewer Loses $1M in SHR Bowl After Bad Beat
Poker player Chris Brewer recently experienced a devastating loss in the SHR Bowl, a high-stakes tournament with a buy-in of $300,000. The tournament featured a prize pool where the third place was awarded $1,000,000.
Brewer's misfortune occurred on the bubble when he went all-in with A-Q against Justin Bonomo, who held 10-4. The flop did not favor Brewer, and Bonomo completed a flush on the river, eliminating Brewer from the tournament. This unfortunate turn of events left Brewer without any prize money.
Sean Winter, who had a short stack, managed to navigate through the tournament and secure a spot in the in-the-money zone, contrasting sharply with Brewer's disappointing exit.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
