Bally's Black Hawk Casino Workers Make History with Teamsters Unionization
Workers at Bally's Black Hawk Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado, have organized with Teamsters, marking the first time casino workers in the state have unionized. This landmark move is a significant achievement for the casino industry in Colorado, as it represents the first instance of casino workers unionizing in the state.
Teamsters will represent more than 100 Black Hawk Casino workers. The unionization effort marks a major milestone for the workers, who will benefit from wage increases, improved benefits, and better working conditions. The group of workers includes slot attendants, slot technicians, cashiers, cooks, bartenders, servers, housekeeping and maintenance staff.
Alexander Balza, a housekeeper at Black Hawk Casino and a member of Teamsters Local 455, said, 'We saw an opportunity to make things better at work, and we took it.' Dean Modecker, Teamsters Local 455's Secretary-Treasurer, acknowledged that the unionization effort by Black Hawk Casino workers marks a major moment in the history of Colorado. Tommy Blitsch, the Director of the Teamsters Convention, Trade Show and Casino Division, said, 'The workers at Black Hawk Casino came together to secure a stronger voice on the job, and they've made history in the process.'

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
