Annie Duke Makes History as First Woman to Win NBC Championship Heads-Up Tournament
Annie Duke made history by becoming the first woman to win the NBC Championship Heads-Up Tournament. In the final match, she defeated Eric Seidel, a long-time friend and fellow poker player. The final consisted of three matches, with Duke winning the first and third matches, and Seidel winning the second.
In the first match, Duke initially trailed but won several significant pots to take the lead. The decisive moment came when both players went all-in on a flop of Ks Js 7d. Duke's As Kd held against Seidel's 8s 6s, with the turn Jh and river Ah securing her victory.
In the second match, Seidel won after Duke's Kh 5d lost to his 8h 7s in a crucial all-in situation. However, Duke bounced back in the third match, doubling her stack with Qd 9d against Seidel's AK. She ultimately won the tournament, securing a $500,000 prize.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
