Andrew Robl Warns: Playing Poker Online is Risky for US Players
Andrew Robl, known as good2cu, is a high-stakes American regular poker player who recently shared his thoughts on the risks of playing poker online for US players. In his blog post, Robl discusses the situation surrounding Full Tilt Poker (FTP) and the dangers of playing on other sites that still accept American players.
Full Tilt Poker accepted deposits without real money transfers for over a year, leading to significant debts. The board of directors only learned about this issue after Black Friday. A group of French investors is now the last hope for Full Tilt to pay off its debts. If this deal falls through, US players will likely never see their money again.
Robl advises against playing on Everleaf Poker and Cake Poker due to high risks. Everleaf Poker failed to transfer all funds to Cake Poker after VictoryPoker's closure, and Cake Poker owed players $5 million but only had $1 million in liquid assets. Robl recommends playing only on PokerStars or public companies with transparent finances. He also mentions that Chris Ferguson, a Full Tilt Poker stakeholder, donated a significant portion of his earnings to African charities.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
