Alberta Boosts Support for Problem Gambling with New Resources
Alberta launched its regulated iGaming market on July 13, 2026, marking a significant development in the province’s gambling industry. The launch of regulated online gambling in Alberta is an important milestone, as it is now licensed and regulated, generating tax revenue and funding programs for treatment and support to people impacted by problem gambling and gambling harm.
Following the launch, Alberta's government is examining proposals for support and treatment of gambling addiction. The additional problem gambling resources will complement the existing offering in Alberta, which includes problem gambling hotlines and the Recovery Alberta program. Recovery Alberta provides confidential services, support, and information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The funding for these additional gambling addiction treatment and support services will be completed via tax revenue collected from online gambling. This effort is aimed at combating the enhanced risk of problem gambling associated with the easy access to online gambling activities via smartphones.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
