AI in Online Poker: Game Changer or Cheating Enabler?
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is significantly impacting the online poker industry. AI can predict player behavior and decisions based on probability and logic, making it a powerful tool for analyzing player behavior. AI can analyze, identify, and predict behaviors of poker players, suggesting the best possible strategies to improve their chances of winning.
However, the use of AI in online poker has also raised concerns about cheating. In a recent incident, professional poker player Fedor Kruse was accused of using Real Time Assistance (RTA) software to cheat in online poker. Kruse used a double PC set up to use the RTA software while playing real money games. The use of RTA is not allowed at US online casinos, and Kruse's account balance of over $1.2 million was confiscated and he was banned from the site.
Despite the potential for cheating, AI is also being used to ensure game fairness in online poker. AI can gather and analyze player behavior to recognize exploitable tendencies and detect suspicious activities like unauthorized withdrawals. AI can also determine account behaviors related to fraudulent activities like identity theft and money laundering. Additionally, AI-powered chatbots provide helpful tips and advice to customers, enhancing the overall gaming experience.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
