50 Cent's Public Shaming Forces Randall Emmett to Pay $1M Poker Debt

50 Cent publicly pressured Randall Emmett to pay a $1 million poker debt, ultimately leading to payment. The incident also boosted 50 Cent's brand and merchandise sales.

On April 28, 2019, 50 Cent posted a video from the reality show Vanderpump Rules on his Instagram. The video featured Lala Kent, who discussed receiving a Range Rover from a fan after their first sexual encounter. 50 Cent's posts revealed that Randall Emmett, Lala Kent's fiancé and a poker enthusiast, owed him $1,000,000 for six years.

50 Cent gave Randall Emmett a deadline until Monday to pay the debt, threatening to continue posting embarrassing facts about him if he didn't comply. The public pressure worked, and Randall Emmett paid the debt. 50 Cent then deleted the posts about Randall Emmett and Lala Kent and wished him and his family a good day. Throughout the incident, 50 Cent promoted his brand Branson Cognac and earned $300,000 from selling t-shirts based on the exchange with Randall Emmett.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
