Japanese Players Shine at 2026 WSOP: Highlights and Social Media Buzz
The 2026 World Series of Poker (WSOP) saw a significant presence of Japanese players, who were very active on social media, sharing their experiences and excitement about the event.
Kazuhiro Shirasawa, who finished third in the $3,000 nine-game tournament, won $111,610. He shared his first impressions after returning home, noting the unique experience of translating restaurant bills into dollars. He also expressed his awe at seeing a new solver for razz, describing it as 'shocking' and mentioning that the strategy in this spot involves limping 90% of the time.
Tyler Phillips commented on this strategy, stating that good players already play almost 100% limp in such situations. Ruytaru Suzuki also praised the solver but noted that the full version costs $25,000. Derek Kwan suggested returning the ability for players to build small cities with their chips, highlighting the aesthetic and technical advantages of this approach. Alex Foxen agreed, pointing out the technical issues caused by constant color-ups and the need for better chip management. He proposed specific rules for removing chips from play to avoid unnecessary complications.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
