WSOP Clarifies Media Guidelines After Poker Flops Controversy

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) has clarified its media guidelines following a controversy involving Poker Flops. The WSOP spokesperson emphasized that the rules governing clip rights have never been more favorable for the media. However, Poker Flops was blocked for not adhering to these guidelines.

The guidelines state that creators must wait six hours after the content has aired before using the clips. Additionally, clips cannot exceed 90 seconds in length. Poker Flops violated these rules by publishing clips shortly after airing and often longer than 90 seconds.

This clarification from the WSOP aims to address the misconceptions and ensure that creators understand and follow the guidelines. The WSOP's rules are designed to allow creators to generate buzz and excitement around the game while respecting the proprietary content and ensuring fans experience key moments through official channels first.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
