Webster Lim Wins Triton Madrid €50k Short Deck for €855,000

Webster Lim emerged victorious at the Triton Madrid €50k Short Deck poker tournament, securing a massive €855,000 payday. The event, held at Casino Gran Via in Madrid, attracted 57 entries with 33 unique players, each paying a €50k buy-in.

Sam Greenwood was the unfortunate bubble boy, losing most of his chips to Elton Tsang when he ran into pocket kings. Phil Ivey, who had already cashed twice in the series, was eliminated when he ran into quads. Wai Kin Yong, son of Triton co-founder Richard Yong, was eliminated in 5th place for €233,700 after forgetting that aces count as fives in Short Deck poker.

In the heads-up battle, Webster Lim faced off against Bjorn Li. Lim, who was deep-stacked, quickly eliminated Li when Li decided to shove his two pair and a relieved Lim saw the river brick, giving him the title and the €855,000 prize.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
