Unibet Shuts Down Operations in Spain Amid New Gambling Laws
Unibet, the Swedish betting site, has announced it will suspend its activities in Spain by December 20, 2011. This decision comes as a response to the new gambling laws in Spain, which the company will not comply with by applying for a license in 2012.
Unibet users will still receive EducaPuntos until the suspension. Users can still withdraw funds and view their betting history even after the suspension. However, active casino and sports betting bonuses will be canceled on December 20, 2011. Unibet Plus account balances under 1000€ will be converted to VIP points on December 12, 2011. Unused VIP points will be lost if not used by December 20, 2011. Poker tournament tickets will be converted to cash on December 19, 2011.
For any further questions, users can contact Unibet's customer service via email at [email protected] or by phone at 900 802 043.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
