Spider-Man Actor Toby Maguire Faces Legal Battle Over Poker Winnings
Toby Maguire, known for his role as Spider-Man, has been a regular participant in high-stakes poker games. These games have involved celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck, and Matt Damon. Maguire won $39,445 in the 2007 WSOP main event. However, his poker activities have landed him in legal trouble.
Brad Ruderman, a manager of an investment fund, lost $25 million in these poker games. Ruderman lost $311,300 to Maguire, including $110,000 in a single hand on July 30, 2007. The legal dispute arises from the fact that Ruderman used client funds to cover his poker losses, which is illegal under California state law.
Maguire is described as a very regular participant in these high-stakes poker games. The games were held in exclusive locations like the Four Seasons hotel and the Viper Room club in Hollywood. Despite the legal issues, Maguire's poker skills have been praised by professionals. DAN Bilzerian, a regular in these games, noted that Maguire's consistent winnings amounted to $30-40 million over three years.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
